Sibling photoshoots are included as part of my newborn photoshoot, I think it is important to have the whole family in the photos that welcome the newest addition to the family.
Last month I got to see an old friend from University, it is always lovely when you get to catch up with old friends and I am always especially honoured when they choose me to take such precious family photography.
This baby boy had been booked in from their 20 week scan, I didn’t do his big sisters newborn photography so I was even more honoured to be asked to do the newest photos.
The family aren’t from Knutsford so we arranged a mid morning session to allow them time to get ready and travel to Knutsford, this also meant baby boy Luke took a bit longer to settle as he had had a little snooze in the car. I always leave plenty of time for babies to settle, feed and be changed and it is actually quite nice and relaxing as I can chat away with Mum and Dad and really get to know the family.
We did the sibling photos first as I didn’t want big sister getting bored, usually I find young children are quite keen to please at the beginning of a shoot and will pose, but then they get bored.
I always have colouring in and toys for them to play with but I do recommend dad or a relative take the older child to our local park – a 200 metre walk away, so they can enjoy themselves while we do the newborn poses.
Posed newborn photography Knutsford
Newborn photography can be lifestyle in the home or posed, I specialise more in posed newborn photography but can do lifestyle if you wanted.
For posed newborn photography I use natural light in my conservatory, this gets the best results and is a nice homely atmosphere. On this photoshoot it was a hot June day so we didn’t need the usual fans, in fact we had to open the windows to keep the gorgeous 12 day old baby boy cool.
I use lots of wrapping and posing techniques which I have been specially trained to do, so all techniques are safe, I always put your baby’s safety and comfort first.
Some of the poses you see in my portfolio will not be possible with some babies, as even at less than 2 weeks old some babies will not like certain positions, but that is fine, my job is to keep everyone happy and capture memories you will cherish.
